Valerie Hanft, MD

Dr. Valerie Hanft is a board-certified dermatologist with extensive training in both medical and pediatric dermatology. She completed her dermatology residency at the University of Michigan, where she was selected for additional subspecialty training through a melanoma fellowship.

A graduate of Duke University, Dr. Hanft earned her undergraduate degree magna cum laude before continuing at Duke University School of Medicine, where she finished in the top third of her class. She then completed a transitional internship with Carilion Health System in Roanoke, Virginia.

Dr. Hanft has been widely recognized for her excellence in dermatology, earning multiple “Top Doctor” honors from Austin Monthly Magazine between 2015 and 2020. She is a former member of the FDA Task Force (2001–2005) and has contributed to numerous research presentations and publications throughout her career.

Her professional interests include pediatric dermatology, clinical research, and general medical dermatology. She also has a strong commitment to service, having participated in a medical mission to Haiti, where she provided care in rural clinics and worked alongside local physicians.

In addition to her medical work, Dr. Hanft mentors youth through the Seedling program and volunteers her time rehabilitating injured wildlife—reflecting her deep compassion for both people and animals.
